Resumen Desde las aportaciones metodológicas y teóricas de los memory studies, este artículo analiza la configuración de la memoria de Blas de Lezo desde sus inicios hasta finales del siglo XIX. A partir del estudio de biografías, compendios históricos y artículos periodísticos principalmente, tratan de delimitarse los factores que confluyen en su construcción, la versatilidad de su funcionalidad política y las constantes modificaciones producidas en sus usos públicos. Bourgeois Women and the Question of Divorce in Finland in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries

This article explores perceptions and actions of Finnish upper-middle-class women with regard to divorce in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Divorce was discussed in the periodicals of bourgeois women’s associations and later in Finnish Parliament, in which several leading figures of the bourgeois women’s associations were elected as members from 1907 onwards. Compared to other issues related to marriage and its legislation, divorce was not an especially important question for bourgeois women, but a tool to promote other issues. Constructing an American fear culture from red scares to terrorism

Building on the work of social analysts who have identified the emerging culture of fear in the USA, this article argues that the current fears about terrorism derive from deliberate campaigns by the world capitalism’s elites. It traces the history of political scares since the late 19th century to show an evolution from red scares to terrorism. While acknowledging the complexities of cultural constructions, the obsession with terrorism is shown as an outgrowth and offspring of earlier, anti-communist hysterias in the USA.

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan 1800-luvun Keuruun käräjäkunnassa, sisäsuomalaisella maaseudulla eläneiden nuorten miesten ja naisten seurustelusuhteiden kehittymistä kohti avioliittoa ja sitä, kuinka tälle tielle alkoi kasautua ongelmia. Tutkimuksen ensisijaisena lähdeaineistona ovat miesten seurustelusuhteiden aikana kumppaneilleen lähettämät intiimit yksityiskirjeet (12 kappaletta), jotka naiset olivat tuoneet aviottoman lapsen elatusoikeudenkäynteihin todisteeksi suhteen aikaisesta seksuaalisesta kanssakäymisestä. La presente memoria intende indagare lo sviluppo delle costruzioni antisismiche in Calabria in un periodo compreso tra gli anni Ottanta dell'Ottocento e i primi anni del Novecento. Lo studio è incentrato sulle tecniche costruttive adottate nelle ricostruzioni post-terremoto realizzate in un periodo immediatamente antecedente il sisma che colpì Messina e Reggio Calabria nel 1908, dopo il quale si registra un progressiva affermazione della tecnologia del cemento armato.
